CLASSES JOURNEYS WORKSHOPS

Using the voice as an instrument, we tune the body in tandem with others. Through activating the breath, voice and ears we deepen our listening and open our sonic chambers. You will be guided through vocal warm ups and improvisations before learning melodies, hockets and rounds! This class is created for people who want to sing in a group, whether you have a musical background or are exploring voice and singing for the first time.

Songs learned are a mixture of original compositions and varied folk music. This workshop is influenced by over 10 years of teaching breath, voice and movement improvisation, choir, work with Olivia Rivière and Lisen Pousette in the growling piece DUNKEL, studies with Isabel Lewis, the influence of Pauline Oliveros and workshops taken with Meredith Monk and her vocal ensemble.

This method invites you into your slinky mermaid slither by developing balance between soft tissue and bone - releasing blockages through circular, spiral and undulating movements leading to refined spinal articulation and a supple, dynamic core.

Here, we use breath and movement to address the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength from the top of the head to the tips of the fingers and toes. This practice is performed entirely on a chair. We arch, we curl, we side arch, we twist and expand the spine in every which direction. This method supports dancers and athletes release physical tension and find symmetry while accommodating people with less active lines, looking to unwind their spine from the weight of daily life. All levels are welcome.

Juliu Horvath (creator of the GYROKINESIS® method) was a dancer who injured a spinal disk that ended his dance career. After this injury, he trained in kundalini yoga, and developed what later became the GYROKINESIS® method. Juliu suffered from multiple herniated disks and brought himself back into movement after being in so much pain that he couldn’t pick up a glass of water. Drawing from Kundalini yoga, internal martial arts and dance – these movement sequences ride the rise and fall of the breath to develop strength and flexibility from the inside out.

Be has completed their training with master trainer, Dana Gingras. Their class is further informed by studies in Traditional Chinese and Daoist Medicine including Qigong, Tai Chi and Kung-Fu.

Sound journeys stimulate the water in the body, releasing physical, energetic and emotional stagnation, using specialized tools to gently recalibrate your nervous system, realign energy centers, and elevate consciousness.

Sound journeys will take place laying down on a massage table. At the core of the sessions are osteopathic tuning forks, applied directly or near the body to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system. These forks are used to release tension, improve circulation, and facilitate harmony inside the body. Harmony is stimulated through the resonance of C and G tuning forks—also known as the Perfect Fifth interval. This sacred harmonic interval has been revered since ancient times for its power to return to a heart-centered state.

As the session unfolds, chakric tuning forks, each calibrated to the frequencies of the seven main chakras, are introduced to cleanse and balance your subtle energy centers.

To complete the journey, Angel Tuners are called upon to release further stagnation, blockages, or repair tears around the energetic body. Each sound journey is a personalized experience that brings people closer to their own harmonic frequency.

Sonic Mushroom Journeys are a collaboration between Daawo Decolonial Medicine and The Singing Dancing Garden, created and held by Amuna Ali and Be Heintzman Hope.

Rooted in ancient technologies of sound and psilocybin mushrooms, these journeys invite the body to become a vessel for deep psychospiritual healing. Within a carefully held container, participants are guided inward by the resonance of sound and the wisdom of plant medicine.

The journey is facilitated by a trained psychedelic-assisted therapy practitioner and a sound healing facilitator. Amuna holds space for the mushroom medicine while Be creates the sonic atmosphere, together guiding participants through pathways of release, recalibration, and realignment.

Each sound journey is a deeply personal experience, one that brings participants closer to their own harmonic frequency. The mushrooms and sound work together to dissolve tension, release stored emotion, and open the way toward a heart-centered state of being.

Following the sonic mushroom journey, continued support can be available in the form of yin yoga, guided meditations, The Singing Garden, and Gyrokinesis, ensuring an ongoing integration process.

Amuna began her work with sacred medicine in 2021 in Ethiopia before moving to Canada and becoming trained and certified in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy through the Embody Lab’s Somatic Psychedelic Facilitator Program, which featured learnings from Dr. Gabor Mate, Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk, Peter Levine, PhD. She also completed the EMBARK™Method psychedelic facilitation training, a model that was developed by the psychiatric research teams at NYU and Yale Universities.

Amuna has been part, either as a participant or a guide, of over 150 psychedelic-assisted journeys.

Together, Be and Amuna co-create a sanctuary for the emotional body—where the medicines of sound and mushroom open a pathway back to aliveness.
